Gaming industry Conventions

These are a few I would like to highlight from my previous work in the video game industry.

PAX West 2025
10 x 20" Booth
Washington State Convention & Trade Center

My Job Title:  (Contract) Event Manager

4 Demo Stations and Stamp Rally.

My Role in this event:

  • Did the Graphic Design for the Booth walls and Kiosks. (Exclusion of platforms and additional details were per internal direction)
  • Presented, Quoted, Designed, Approved, Ordered and Received Stamp Rally Fans and 9" x 6" Art Card Prizes.
  • Oversaw the booth from opening to close with two hired staff with minimal training. Also had support from two developers from City Connection.
  • Managed lines for Media Interviews/Demos, and answered customer questions about our titles.
  • Planned out actions to be taken when inventory of the Stamp Rally Fans ran low while still supporting company goals.

Some Key Results:

Ran out of Stamp Rally Fans (2k) by day 3, however this is when we were making the fans last longer by handing them out when lines were low, and then slowing down handing out fans when the lines were long. Overall the fans were a great driving factor to make our booth feel fuller and more exciting throughout the expo. In the later part of day 3 I had a few customers walk up and ask if we had any more when we did not.

Customers exclaimed multiple times when approaching to receive a fan, "Oh! This is where those fans are from! I see them everywhere!", "Great give-away", or "This is my favorite freebie I got so far!". This was also amplified a little due to the weather being humid as well.

Customers were really impressed by the City Connection art on the wall with Clarice and the Car. There were a few people who asked if "City Connection" the game would be remade and requested we should consider it if possible.

Demo Stations were self sufficient and most customers were able to handle the demo without any active assigned explanation.

Anime Expo 2023
30" x 30" Booth
Anaheim Convention Center

PAX East 2023
20"20" Booth
Boston Convention and Exhibition Center

My Job Title: Store Manager

14 Demo Stations, AX leads Scan Station, Store front & Storage, Display case with Product, Cosplayers, and Stamp Rally.

My Role in this event:

  • Oversaw quotes and product designs for one new product, two giveaways,  product menus, printing of controllers set ups, six demo station flyers, and two prizes.
  • Managed Storage, Store Promotions, and Booth Set up and Tear down.
  • Set up Store Registers, and logistics for Inventory to and from the Los Angeles Convention center.
  • Requested and Coordinated Art assets for print, and approval with the new vendor on a tight timeline.
  • After Key employees from marketing and logistics resigned, I caught any missing work and oversaw its completion.

Some Key Results

Sold over 80% of the inventory brought to the expo. Expo exclusive product sold out on day one of the event.

After a mix up with FedEx delivery, was able to get all product delivered within the ideal window of the set up day, inventory counted, and have the whole booth ready within 4 hours.

This was the first time my employer was in the Entertainment Hall at the Anime Expo convention. The Goal was to increase demo plays over Sales. We were able to achieve an increase of 29% more demo plays per station than 2019.

My Job Title: Store Manager

10 Demo Stations, PAX XP Scan and Win Station, Store front & Storage, Display case with Product and Stamp Rally.

My Role in this event:

  • Assisted Marketing in booth setup and hanging Sign ordering and Set up.
  • Managed Storage, Store Promotions, and Presentation.
  • Set up Store Registers, and logistics for Inventory to and from the Boston Convention Center.
  • Requested and Coordinated Art assets for print.
  • Was the back up for any section of the Expo planning that needed assistance due to my previous experience as the Events Manager before 2020.

Some Key Results

Due to the fact that my employer joined PAX East less than 3 months away from the expo, it was decided by the marketing team to use my design from PAX East 2020 for this event as well.

The store's goal at the event was to utilize the announcement of Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless to move slower moving inventory at our booth. Bought Expo exclusives that brought customers back to our booth each day.

Three of our five expo exclusive items were sold out by the end of the first day. The last two sold out by the end of the last day.

The store was give an award of "Best Swag" from Marooner's Rock in recognition of our giveaways at the booth.

Some Key Results

The goal for this convention was to announce that my employer would be releasing the game "Trails of Cold Steel III". I set up a very tall wall that showcased the art and had a standee of the main character there for photo opportunities. This brought a lot of fans of this title to our booth as they could easily see it on the show floor.

I also positioned the flashy attention grabbing game "Lapis x Labyrinth" near the store front and edge of the booth to gather as much attention as possible to that side when customers approached. It was noticed and called out a one of the "Top 10 games you gotta play at PAX South", and exploded with demos on the last 2 days after that announcement.

PAX West 2019

20" x 20" Booth
Washington State Convention & Trade Center

My Job Title: Event Manager

My Role in this event:

  • Managed Budget for entire expo.

  • Brought the Penny Smashing Machine.
  • Requested and Coordinated Art assets for print.
  • Came up with the "Hot Ones" Style of Panel with the creator of LA-MULANA 1&2.
  • Coordinated all console activation/setup for demos at the expo.
  • Interviewed and hired third party staff for Demos to save on costs.
  • Handled logistics for staffing and flight/hotel.
  • Stamp Rally at the booth with Sponsored "Golden Curry" as a prize.

Some Key Results

The goal of this expo was to push the announcement for LA-MULANA 1&2 and we brought the developer out to hold a panel and spread awareness of this old title. We wanted to bring a little bit of the game's intense flavor and love of curry to the panel to bring more guests to the panel than just old fans. I suggested we do a challenge where the developer will answer questions while eating curry of different spice levels. We got the developer's approval and had a full attendance at the panel!

For every Anime Expo my employer attended, there were bonus items given with each purchase and the tier would improve the more you spend. To help convey the increase in a fun unique way, I suggested we call them "Goodie" and "Greatie" bags. This caught on and was used from 2017 -2019. This was stopped due to Covid.

Our Stamp Rally also made it so customers would experience our booth from all sides! The prize was the medal from the game Trails of Cold Steel III that signified that you were part of the team.

We also supported signing sessions in our booth as well.

Anime Expo 2018

40" x 40" Booth

My Job Title: Community Manager

8 Demo Stations, Photo Station w/ Cosplayers, Store front & Storage, Guest autograph sessions, Display case with product and Stamp Rally.

My Role in this event:

  • Lead booth layout and flow. This was tricky for this expo as we needed to be able to support autograph sessions and line management within our booth space.
  • Studied and developed a unique Game Demo Station design for our booth with our vendor.
  • Handled all negotiation with SPJA (Anime Expo's Developer) for Panels, gatherings, and booth needs.

We maxed out all signing sessions for both our guests, and increased our average demo play count by 2x over the other games at the expo.

That's me holding up the autograph sign!

  • Coordinated Art assets for print.
  • Store presentation, giveaway bags, preorder station and inventory management.
  • Stamp Rally development. prize design direction, and vendor negotiation for prize production.

Some Key Results

The Goal for this Expo was to push the game Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA. My employer also brought out the president of a partner company we were working with to allow them to see the booth design we created. It was reported he was very impressed with our efforts!

The Stamp Rally prize was a big hit!  The medallion prize was very desirable as customers liked to wear their prize around the expo. This would also bring other customers to our booth.

CatCon 2025
6' x 8' Booth
Inside
Pasadena Convention Center, Pasadena

My Job Title: Owner (Small Business)

First time Returning to a Convention as an Artist!

Notes:

  • Broke the records and became by top two selling days in Business history!
Saturday was top Day 1, and Sunday was the 2nd Best selling day over SJ MADE Fest's Best day!
  • The Light behind the display really effected the sales of my Suncatchers. If I put the light behind one version, it would start selling over others!

  • My register being in the center of the booth was not helpful for customers checking out the display. I will need to reconfigure my layout to support my register being on the side!
  • Tote bags being on the table and lower in the front made them sell a lot better than being posted higher!
  • People asked about "Just happy you're here" decoration as a magnet, keychain, or sticker! How sweet!
  • Still sold out of my suncatchers by mid 2nd day for most designs.
  • Vendors around me were so kind! I'm excited to see them again next year! I'm considering a 10 x 10 but I'm not sure...

SJ MADE Fest
10' x 10' Booth
Outside
History Park, San Jose

My Job Title: Owner (Small Business)

My First inner-state travel Convention!

Notes:

  • Debuted my New Summer Suncatchers and New Sticker Sheet at the event!

  • Decided to try to combine my booth settings from Comic Con Ontario and OC Japan to see if I could make it more inviting.

  • Sold out of all my Tote Bag stock from my whole inventory (They're gone!), and then sold out of multiple at show items.
  • New Suncatcher set up was great to bring in customers from the outside.
  • Menus were well received and helped customers really pin point what they wanted to find in the booth!
  • Sign was made for carrying around the front of the booth and it was well received by customers.
  • Met two Vloggers I love to watch.
  • Will need to revamp the side with my Pin and stationery display as at a 6'ft table the space to interact with people becomes too limited.

Comic Con Revolution Ontario 2025
8' x 5' booth
Inside
Ontario Convention Center, Ontario

My Job Title: Owner (Small Business)

First time at an Artist Alley as my own Brand!

Notes:

  • Had to adjust my display from a 6ft to an 8 ft table, where I was not allowed to use my normal clamp bar!

  • I got Fan art for a second time here and I'm so grateful!  (Picture below)
  • I hit my overall goal and was able to make some great connections!
  • Was able to make a connection with Cats & Comics ( a kitten adoption rescue)~! They're considering having my products at their location in the future once they open their retail location.
  • I got a lot of compliments on my display and a few customers took selfies with us!

Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair
Shared 10 x 10' booth
Outside
Central Park, Pasadena

My Job Title: Owner (Small Business)

Provided the Canopy, and split the booth with a vendor from Hawai'i, Flight Formations in a diagonal.

Notes:

  • Created a Jackalope Fridge Magnet as a souvenir for this event. $5 each or get it free when you spend $25 or more!  This allowed me to have my booth also featured in the Jackalope Museum at the front of the fair.

  • Had to adjust sales goals after the rain hit, but was able to hit the new sales goal on both days.

  • Increased by 12 followers on Instagram and broke 100 subscribers to my mewsletter!
  • Sold out of my new standalone Coaster for $15 each.
  • Featured on Yelp LA when I provided free stickers to Yelp Elite members. (Great marketing option)
  • Signed up for the Plaza app, which is new. I am currently waiting for the Android version of this app.
  • Bringing plastic sleeves to protect my inventory when it was raining worked!
  • Received FANART from Cienna! It was such a wonderful gift in the middle of the Sunday!

OC Japan Fair (Spring) 2025
10' x 10' booth
Inside Hangar
OC Event Center @ the OC Fairgrounds

My Job Title: Owner (Small Business)

Created an event exclusive Hair clip, that sold out by the end of day 3.

Hit and passed my sales goal. The Hangar I was in had the slowest traffic out of all locations, which means that there is room for growth.

Bundles were a great way to encourage purchases.

Notes:

  • Increased followers on Instagram by roughly 13% & my "Mewsletter" by 25%.
  • Coaster Set display really pulled customers into the booth, along with the tote bag being at the front of the booth. Increased sales on both items.
  • Cat Companion Display was well received.
  • Having the pins at the joint of the tables created a pinch point. Sales increased of pins once they were moved to the right side of the booth.
  •  OC loves Black Tuxedo cats, because I sold half of my stock of the mini whisker L7 pins!
  • "T" Formation for my booth worked fantastically and allowed ample space for up to three people behind the booth with little crowding.
  • I had 2 customers come to my booth and tell me that they came to the event just to see me, and one girl (Cienna) asked for my signature! <3

Close up was very simple with the tent wall.

Post-it stock end of day 1

Post it stock end of day 2 (After some Restock)

Press Event

I planned the NISA 2019 Press Event

My current employer would hold "Press Events" traditionally within the first three months of each year. These events  are treated like celebration where we would have a large presentation, multiple games to demo, interviews with the PR team, game developer guests, light food, drinks (some with & without alcohol), and gifts to hand out at the end of the night to help press remember all the titles that were presented that day.

My employer tasked me to find a large facility as we had a big announcement to make at this event. I was able to find a wonderful location in San Francisco that could facilitate all the needs for the event.

The gift was a themed business card holder that held cards with highlighted each game presented at the event, along with our Marketing Manager's card.

A themed drink list was made based on the games that were announced.

I also brought some character standees to the event as well to highlight the main characters for the titles that were being promoted.

I was able to bring the company mascot costume to the event as well and have him on display at the front for Photos. Our guests really enjoyed this.

Themed music was from our games that were coming out, and we had a small product display that showcased our upcoming Limited Editions.

We had a Caricaturist come by and draw our guests, with a themed printout.

Whisker Dreams - Pop Up Markets

Creative Babe Market
March 24, 2024
10 - 2 PM event (4 hours)
Fullerton Arboretum

Temporary Store front & raising awareness for my business

My Role in this event:

  • Planned table layout, load in and load out plan to be executed by one person.
  • Managed inventory and set up a Point of Sale system that was directly synced to my online store records.
  • Developed new products and marketing leading up to and after the event.

Some Key Results:

The results of this event were above my expectation! I made 2x more my highest expectation in gross sales as the crowd here was a mix of more general audiences than my target audience for Whisker Dreams.

I also doubled my following on my business's Instagram account.

Mother's Day Market
April 28, 2024

The Rogue Collective (Newport Beach)

Exploring new pop-up markets around me and meeting other small businesses!

My Role in this event:

  • Updated my Table Layout from noticeable pain points with product displays
  • Created new products for this market: A new sticker sheet and a new magnet variant
  • Managed load in with help, and managed load out with no help.

Some Key Results:

  • New Market Planner was running this market and said to me "I'll market the event next time", the customer turnout was very low.
  • Most of the customers I saw were people that I knew or had seen my marketing posts on instagram. (Thank you!)
  • Considering the amount of attendees to this market, I got 13 sales, while the vendors on either side of me got 2 and 6 sales.
  • Due to the low customer attendance I was able to learn about 2 possible markets I could attend, and ways to look out for signs of low performing markets.

Booptown Pet Adoptions
May 19, 2024

  • Created new products for this market: Journal with re-usable sticker pages, Tote bag with an inner pocket, and two new suncatchers
  • Had a team of 4 people attended with me!

Some Key Results:

  • Customer turnout was very low for this market too unfortunately
  • Made back table costs at least, and one kitten was adopted!

Creative Babe Market
June 9, 2024

I came back to this venue as it worked out great for me last time, and it was wonderful again a second time!

My Role in this event:

  • Set up  and tear down was
  • Created New Signs to support my Cat Companion Product and Story.
  • Had two registers available and tested my hot spot settings.

Some Key Results:

  • Customer turn out was about half of what was attended at the first Creative Babe Market, which matched my sales as well.
  • I noticed that customers did not see the pin/keychain display board too well and I will need to update this display.
  • Post it notes are found easier when they are at the front of the table and not towards they book marks.
  • Bookmark display is good for showing examples, but it not approachable.

Dreamers Market
June 22, 2024
11-4 PM event (5 hours)
The CAMP

My first outside Market! I was extremely worried about how I would fair in the heat since I'm pretty sensitive to the sun, but it seems that I was able to manage through it all! It was 80° on that day!

My Role in this event:

  • Created new minor variants to my cat companions to put out on display.
  • Updated how my journals are displayed too.
  • Packed everything to help myself and my partner survive the weather.

Some Key Results:

  • Customer turnout was low due to the weather according to the Dreamer's Market host.
  • Still made table costs back, but not too much more into profit.
  • Learned that my banner stand will blow over very easily by the wind and will need to be strategic on where I place it, and tape will not hold up in the heat.
  • My Pins performed well at this event! Top seller was my "Curly Toes" Pin.

Dreamers Market
July 13, 2024
4-8 PM event (4 hours)
Anaheim Packing House (Farmer's Park)

My second outside Market, however this was going to go into the evening and will be ending close to after sunset.

New item in this event:

  • New wood display that shows off my lapel pins in an easy to pick up and see format.

Some Key Results:

  • Customer turnout was strong at this location and there were not too many lulls in activity. However the market got busier the later into the day it went.
  • Made 3x table cost back.
  • Made a note to purchase a weight specifically to support my Banner stand.

Dreamers Market
Oct 5, 2024

I returned for the Autumn Artisan market where they focused on vendors who have hand made or hand assembled items!

New item in this event:

  • First Event display for my Fall Suncatchers!
  • Resting Cat Magnet
  • Cat Face Magnet (Set of 4) - Short Hair or Long Hair
  • Cat Tail Hook Meowgnet

Some Key Results:

  • Made 2x the table cost back. The area had lighter traffic due to the earlier time.
  • Used my Umbrella Base to hold my Banner Stand

Creative Babe Market
November 17
11 - 3 PM Event (4 hours)
Coyote Hills Gold Course (Gazebo)

It was my first time at this location and they had us packed in pretty tight, but we were able to make back table! I was surprised at the turnout for this event but I feel that this location is only good for the holidays. Normal times during the year it would be better to hold off.

There were no new items for this event, but I did sell out of my Black Cat Bookmarks!

My Wedding Creations

I had Custom 3D Printed swords based off the sword of the sages in the Legend of Zelda series for my bridesmaids to carry.

I also worked with another vendor to make 3D printed helmets based off particular Super Sentai members for my husbands's groomsmen and women!

They could be worn as well!
